Listening Tips

Good movies make us laugh or cry, think or feel; good listening allows the SPEAKER to be entertained, informed, inspired, or touched by his or her own story.
A good listener serves the speaker’s need to express himself, allows the speaker to tell his story, helps him tell his story, lets him enjoy his story.
Good listeners can play one of three roles:
An Audience pays attention, engages, and acknowledges the sentiment at the end of the story.
A Contributor helps the speaker talk through his ideas, provides specific praise, and offers constructive feedback.
A Counselor challenges and guides the speaker in a compassionate way to accept, learn from, and overcome a problem.
